Reddish-brown in colour, it closely resembles the related Sapele, however has a more open texture. It exhibits similar grain pattern quarter sawn and crown cut and similar burgundy red colour tones. One clear difference is it is far more stable. Generally commands a higher price by the sawmillers. An excellent Mahogany type substitute.
